  • Welcome To the News… Also the Olds…

These, right here, are the notes I found scrawled in my back pocket–

*In a flagrant declaration of open war against Zampzon & Daku, Keenspot launches Keencast. Punks! This aggression will not stand! Or something…
*Comixpedia has an RSS Feed. Tell no one.
*Reprographics, a semi-autobiographical photocomic by Chris Yates, has arrived. In just over 1 year, this is how Chris makes his living… unless Chris simply fills his news section with mendacities in which case: shame on you, Chris Yates.

    When Politics and Comics Collide

Posted By: The Geek on January 30, 2006

The Internet is becoming more and more a part of daily life, even for people who don’t use it for hours online. I work at a campus newspaper and a lot of my coworkers are planning on going into the newspaper business after graduation.

Let me tell you something, the journalists fear the Net.

And really, it a lot of ways they should be nervous. The Internet is a powerful news source, it has better comics than print does (and better ways to learn about and discuss said comics) and if you are picky about what sites you go to, it;s all free.

    Get Your Digital Overload

If there is one thing gaming comics get right its how to appeal to their audience. Ctrl+Alt+Del has teamed with the guys behind Blind Ferret Entertainment to bring us Digital Overload, a HUGE LAN Party. I’m talking the hundred you manage to piece together with all your college buddies “testing” the campus network. These guys are borrowing the Rhode Island Convention Center to seat 750 gamers out to prove that you can game for more then 50 hours straight without killing yourself. Here’s the press release:

Jason Salisbury of the Pet Professional is seeking a new artist, so, someone jump on that, please. I love this strip.

Kazu Kibuishi, of “Flight” and “Copper” fame, has posted a tutorial depicting his process for creating a Copper strip.

Comixpedia is Crushed Under the Weight of Pennies

Posted By: daku on January 25, 2006

Even though Comixpedia is one of the biggest news sites on the web it still crumbles when Penny Arcade fires across it’s bow. Looks like there’s no preparing for such an event as many readers will have found the “Problem in Database Connection” page which is currently being displayed.

Gabe and Tycho have said in the past that they always try to be careful when they link someone but sometimes having half a million faithful readers leaves little space for caution.

    Theater? Theatre? Ah Poppycock!

Posted By: The Geek on January 25, 2006

Like a phoenix, rising from it’s own ashes. Poppycock Circus has been reborn and now soars through the air as Poppycock Theater.

Poppycock Circus was a webcomic by Steve Carey that ran for about two years until it went on hiatus in April of last year. The strip was great fun and had a style that I really like.

Poppycock Theater will feature many of the same characters as PC but will focus on the various popular movies of the day. The new weekly strip will join the ranks of other big name movie based strips such as Theatre Hopper and Joe Loves Crappy Movies.
