You’ll Have That - I’ve always thought selling artwork was a great gauge of just how loyal your fans are and just how far your reach is. It looks like Wes is taking just that chance by putting up five pieces on eBay. There are only 2 days left so hurry up and make your bid as a big thank you for Wes’s great strip.
Simulated Comic Product - One of our earliest fans has just made it out of kindergarten. Not only has it pasted the 100th comic mark but it’s been around for a year and joined our favorite little community in Transplant Comics.

I’m sorry to report that this very site has been the target of a rather mean spirited attempt to shut us down and it may yet succeed, if only temporarily. As a result I’ve had to shut off access to our comments and prevent new comments from being posted, at least for the time being. I know that the comments section on our site has been an active part of our conversations lately and it’s really sad that I have to do this, but it must be done.

I remember the first time I came into contact with Podcasting. It was about a year ago when I first went to this very site. There was only one or two at the time. Now podcasts are everywhere! Every site has one. They are all different in many ways, but at the same time all the same in one very annoying way: They’re all terrible.
That’s right; I said it out loud and in a manner most proud. Podcasts on the whole suffer a horrible lack of quality in the sound, voice personality, and organizational areas. Read on…

Ah, so many reasons to keep from posting for such a long, long time. Reasons that I’m sure you, the webcomic enthusiast/creator could care less about. So on with the insanity!
The webcomic, “The Pet Professional“, has been around for a little more than a year now, garnering a good deal of support early on from friend-in-high-place Scott Kurtz and a one-shot (literally) comic strip format that’s as easy to digest as it is to forget. A few months ago, Jason Salsbury, the aforementioned creator of PetPro, announced that his artist, Matt Kaufenberg, was moving onto other things and so the call went out for a new artist.

Okay, okay, I know. I ran out on you guys like a deadbeat dad. It was a bad move, but I’m back and I have a new gripe. This time it doesn’t involve language or anything dealing with morals or the like.
My gripe today is with something I’ve seen a lot of in forums dedicated to webcomics, the 37th strip post. Now, I’m all for letting people know when you hit a milestone with your comic. Things like hitting your one year mark, your 100th strip, killing a character, or re-inventing the wheel. Just because you made it to your 37th update isn’t a reason to go shouting it from the rooftops. That’s like marking off the fact that you made it to two and a half months without missing an update. You have a comic, that comic is comprised of strips, most of these strips are released on a scheduled picked by you. That means it should be no surprise when you update your comic regularly.

My Extra Life - I finally get some time to take a look at Scott Johnson’s new tutorial on how he makes his comic. Don’t you know it’s down? I wonder if it was the video itself that broke its back. Anyways the whole concept sounds fantastic and fits perfectly with the concept of web comics. Why? because our readers want their entertainment in short bursts and this little recording does exactly that. Its basically an entire video of Scott creating a new ExtraLife comic, but all sped up with narration.
Ninja Bunny - This little comic was sent to me in celebration of its 100 strip. What is the strip about? The name practically gives it away. Mike Hull has started a new blog that has a lot of potential. Webcomics in Print is all about the world of web comics in the form environmentalists hate most.

It’s late at night and I’m in my hotel room in Dallas, TX. I just wanted to jump online and give a little update here on the Digital Strips comic. I know it seems like I’ve been slacking, but really I’ve been drawing and writing the comic from plane to plane. It’s just damn hard to find a scanner when you really need one. The hotels I hop around to all have business centers where printers and photocopiers are aplenty, but I have yet to find one with a scanner. This past weekend I made it back home for a few precious hours before hitting the airways yet again and I was able to get a bunch of stuff scanned.

When ever people tell me all syndicated strips suck, I usually warn them about making blanket statements and point them to a few offerings from the syndicates who I believe are in top form and should still be read by everyone, even if you have to do it online. Two of these strips, Pearls Before Swine and Get Fuzzy have been on a collision course all this last week and yesterday’s strip had me thinking all day.
For those who don’t read both strips, Darby Conley of Fuzzy has been placing his characters into the strips from Stephan Pastis of Pearls. It’s been pretty funny in my book. Read on…

Just about every comic, here on the interweb, has a blog to accompany their strip. What for I wonder? Most strips could do without their blog. A lot of these have updated their strip alright, but the blog is about 6 months behind. Either that or the current post is 2 weeks old and it says “Wow I haven’t posted on here in so long”. Granted the existence of a web comic master’s mind is fraught with the perils of the evil invader “Real Life”, but the matters of taste and continuity are not totally eradicated. There are many strips whose constant blogging certainly gives us all joys Read on…
